Thomas Churchyard travelled around the countryside to various courts and hearings. He also travelled to the coast often with his friend Edward FitzGerald, translator of The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. In his letters FitzGerald mentions driving out to Hollesley Bay, or Aldeburgh with the ‘Little Artist Lawyer’ where he would go out on a boat and Thomas would paint. Dunwich was one of FitzGerald’s favourite holiday destinations.
