Laura Churchyard (1830-1891) was the closest to Thomas in style and skill. She painted landscapes and most often used water-colour, many of her works have been mistaken for her father’s. After many years of making ends-meet, she was offered the post of Seckford librarian, and allowed to take her sisters Anna, Harriet and Kate (later Bessie too) with her to the old Headmaster’s House
Provenance: In private ownership in Woodbridge until 1995.
