Mr Kerrich
Boulge Cottage stood at the gates of Edward FitzGerald's
parent's house Boulge Hall. He lived there from
1837 until 1853 when his brother inherited the
Hall. He wrote to Mrs Cowell 24 April 1856: "The
picture goes off to you today." And again
29 April 1856: "I am very glad you like
the Picture, and so will be poor Mr Churchyard.
To think that his handiwork shall delight Men's
eyes in Calcutta!" Again 1 May 1856:"
I am so glad you like Mr Churchyard's Picture.
I liked it so well as to choose it from all he
had done; and he thought it one of his Best. He
is greatly flattered at your liking."
