When Thomas Churchyard returned from London in 1833 he went into partnership with Edwin Church Everitt. In 1834 Everitt moved to Marsden House, Cumberland Street, Woodbridge and for a time their office was in part of the house. As the practise grew, they were joined by Daniel Charles Meadows and they moved into larger premises. But when Everitt moved to Yarmouth, and Meadows went his own way too, Thomas consolidated once again. 1843 found Thomas and his family living at Marsden House, together with two clerks and three domestic staff. They lived there for about ten years.
Provenance: Harold Day, bought from Woodbridge 30 years ago;
subsequently in private collection Eastbourne, until 2000.
